Founded by Dan Kiefer in 1989, Auto-Lab began as a single store auto repair shop in Sturgis, MI. The company quickly grew to include 5 independently owned and operated facilities with a focus on tune-up work and providing an alternative to dealership service. Due to the success and rapid growth of these shops, we decided to offer franchise opportunities in 1992. The company structure began to franchise and grew to 24 locations in the state of Michigan between 1992 and 2003.

Auto-Lab changed ownership in 2004, when Frank Brandenberg and a group of investors bought the company. By 2005, our business went national to include new locations in Illinois, Indiana and Arizona.  New locations were opened in Northern Florida and California in 2006. Further expansion occurred in 2009 with the addition of new locations in Florida and Michigan as well as a master franchisor in the Indiana Market. Four store openings in the first quarter of 2010 brought our store count to 40 stores.
